We spent the last two months of planning the word about our trip. In this preparation, we learned some memberships and passes that will make life easier and save money. I would like to share with you.
EU Rail Pass
This pass gives you access to almost all the trains only in Western Europe, which excludes the UK. If you are under 25 you qualify for a second class pass, which is about 25% lower than the first class pass. You can choose the best package for your travel needs. We chose to go with a 3 month unlimited package. Spain is one of the only countries that require a small fee to book a train journey. Otherwise, you must take fast and slow as you like trains.
Camping Card International
Camping Card International mainly two interesting advantages: You will have access to exclusive campsites and receive up to 15% off. The second advantage and perhaps more interesting is the possibility of using it as a badge in the camps. Normally they ask you to leave your passport at the office when you are camping. I do not know about you but I do not feel comfortable leaving my passport anywhere. Camping International Notebook ID used instead of your passport. If you are a member, you can apply for a card for about $ 30. If you are not a member FCRV you can provide a one-year subscription for about $ 60 (the only place I found where you can get this card in the US, thanks Heather). Note that you receive one card per family, not per person.
Hostelling International Card
Hostelling International membership card is all you need to access largest network hosting world travel budget as well as many exclusive discounts and special offers members. This means that you will have access to exclusive lodges and special offers in the way. You do not have to get this membership soon, but I recommend you do, makes things easier when you arrive at the hostel. Discounts Ranger typically 5-15%. Some shelters necessary that you have the card, but let you buy when you arrive.
Map Royal Oak Foundation
The Royal Oak Foundation engages Americans in the work of the National Trust of England, Wales and Northern Ireland, one of the largest conservation organizations and the most progressive in the world. With membership you enjoy free admission to more than 350 historical sites, including some of the most stunning landscapes in Britain; places like Stonehenge. Membership costs $ 80 for a family. With your membership you will receive a 200-page guide, which contains most of the places and the parking card, which gives free parking in most places great value and highly recommended.
For travelers of long-term world, I would recommend picking up goods. They not only save you time and money, but also include updating guides and brochures to help familiarize you with long-term international travel.
